So I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but my wife and I were just recently let go at our job at Summerhill apartments. So they gave us a week to get out of the office/apartment. Since our place of living was dependent on our position here we are going to become homeless as of April 18th. That means we won't also have access to the internet unless we can find a new place and get internet installed or we can find an internet cafe to play at, but in a small town we don't have one of those that I know of. We hope to be back on our feet soon, and we look forward to returning to WoW on Emerald Dream with Guardians. Now that we don't have a high stress busy ass job anymore we hope to spend more time with ya'll. Wish us luck.

Starting Over?

I just wanted to post here to see if anyone can explain where the guild went, why it went, whether those of us left out of the discussion are welcome to go along, and what the plans are for the future of the guild on VeCo.

I have fairly strong feelings on the subject at present, but I will keep those to myself until I have gotten more information.

Trials of Ascension

Years ago, before Ketch and I founded the Guardians of the Light, I followed an indie mmo in development called Trials of Ascension. It has a lot of revolutionary ideas and features, and because of that, it could not get the funding to get off the ground. After a year of following the game, they closed their doors.

However just tonight, I got an email from them saying that they were back in business ala crowd funding! My passion for this game has been rekindled, and I want to share it with you all.

I do plan to follow the development closely, and should it reach launch status, dedicate a significant amount of time to the game. If it delivers on what they promise, I may even give up WoW for it. Please check it out and share your thoughts about it. I'd love to have a few Guardians at my side when I go to explore it for the first time!

Brienne,

Just dinged 90 last night and put on your pvp items you made me. I just bought some of the cheaper enchants to help with the lower gear. I also bought my first honor piece (back) to help out with the drop in hit %. After looking at your team with torkin and toyshammy I think I'd be the last one gear wise to ask into your team but if you need me just shoot me an invite. I'll be grinding honor now and could use the conquest if we could find some weak teams out there that we could beat with my low gear.

Gosh, Thanks Brii! Actually, I've tried a little Guild Wars 2, but for some reason, it's left me fairly "meh". I suppose I might yet start a little, level 1 Fhizz over here on EU Wow. For now, I'm trying to learn Swedish ...which also leaves me a bit "meh".

The Revival of Boot Camp

Some people here might remember Boot Camp from Cata while the newer people are wondering, what is boot camp? Well, Boot Camp was made to see if someone was ready for raiding. It was an old requirement to do before raiding. It was required for both progression raiding and normal raiding. Well, it will still keep its purpose to see if one is ready for raiding, but it will be more geared toward progression. IT WILL NOT BE REQUIRED FOR NON-PROGRESSION RAIDING. Now that I mention that there is a reason why it's not required for non-progression. The reasoning behind this is to make progression raiding efficient in defeating new bosses. It will be harder to pass Boot Camp than it was in Cata since this will focus more on the individual than a group for Boot Camp.
Why is Boot Camp being brought back?
If you are asking this, the answer is simple. In this previous month we have been wiping on bosses that we already beat at least five times, but now we are going backwards in progression. We are wiping to stupid mistakes. I am not going to mention who or what they were, but I will mention this, Boot Camp is made to make better raiders.

How does Boot Camp work?

The original Boot Camp in Cata was done in Baradin Hold with ten people. Everyone was judged more on DPS and heals than anything else. The new Boot Camp will use Scenarios, until challenge mode dungeons are cleared. I will be taking in one person at a time. I will have one assistant helping me. The reason why I said "helping me" instead of "helping you" is this reason...they are there to make it more difficult for you to pass. I know it sounds like a dick move, but there is reasoning behind this. A good raider can overcome any challenge that comes at them. "How will you make it more difficult?" you might be asking. My assistant and I will create different environments in a series of scenarios. One example will be the one healing challenge, I will be tanking the scenario in lv 85 or lv 80 gear to test your ability to handle a "bad" tank and dps that stands in everything. Depending on how you can handle these trails determines whether you are "raid ready."

What if I fail Boot Camp?

Well you have two options, the first is you can take it again in a week (I mean in a week from the date you took your last test at the earliest) The other is taking the "training grounds" raids and take the test again within the same week.
What is the "Training Grounds?"

Thanks person that asked, The Training Grounds is like field training for newbies. This will help new people to raiding or people that need to become better raiders. It would be a series of bosses in a previous raid. Sounds easy, but one extra thing added. You will be running the entire raid without any addons, and I mean ANY ADDONS. Especially DEADLY BOSS MODS. The reason why I say no DBM is this, I raided with the Guardians during Wrath of the Lich King. I didn't use any addons till I started doing the Lich King fight. This really helped me become quicker at avoiding things and react quicker to a boss's abilities without being told what to do. You might be asking couldn't I just use DBM to tell me when to do something? NO! DBM should be used like a secretary, she will tell you when the meeting is coming up so you can prepare yourself for it. If you fail Boot Camp earlier in the week, running this will allow you to get a second chance for the week, or if you haven't run Boot Camp yet, this will give you priority over others.
How does one sign up for Boot Camp?
Again thanks person that asked, to sign up for Boot Camp message me in-game mail or whisper and I will set up a time and date for your Boot Camp.
Who has to sign up for Boot Camp?
Everyone who wants to raid in progression, and I mean EVERYONE! Even higher ups in the guild have to take Boot Camp. There is only two people that don't and it is me (Ryu aka Ryufrion and Lyurin) and Gallazar ([G]). Even Elyssah has to do Boot Camp, so no reason why you can't do Boot Camp and do Progression.

Challenges:

-Tank:
- Hold Aggro
- Survivability
-Avoid Area of Effect
- Awareness

-Heals
-Make up for "Bad Tank" and "tunnel vision Dps"
- Awareness
-Avoid Damage
- Complete a Task

-DPS
-Damage Done
- Complete a Task
- Avoid Damage
- Keep a cap on aggro

Side note: A way to replace Boot Camp is the Brawler's guild, but only if you are a non-hunter and non-warlock (any class that has a pet that could tank the boss.)

Thanks for the invite and the memories but this guild and realm isn't for me. I had fun, a lot of really great people in this guild. To everyone who was on, I apologize for my actions and words last night. I'm so sorry you all had to witness that. First time in 8 years I feel WoW is done for me and offers no entertainment like it used to. Thank you for everything. Sorry I embarrassed your guild Elyssah.

Classic and BC raids changes to make them more soloable

These are changes found in the November 29th Hotfix Notes

Several classic raid bosses have been adjusted to be more friendly to solo players:

Viscidus
Viscidus now remains frozen for 30 seconds (was 15), and it takes 30 hits to shatter Viscidus (was 50).
The Twin Emperors
The recast time for Heal Brother has been increased to 3 seconds (was 2).
C'thun
Players now have 5 minutes to escape C'thun's stomach and resume the battle before it resets.
Al'ar
Al'ar and Ember of Al'ar are no longer immune to fire damage.
Reliquary of Souls
Spirit Shock now has a 15 second recast time (was 0 seconds).

Holiday Update

With the Holiday's fast approaching, now is an excellent time for us to assess our progress through this expansion to date.

I first want to remind everyone that is interested in raiding to contact Captain Lyurin/Ryufrion so he can help you reach the point you need to begin raiding with the guild.

The same goes for those of you who are interested in Rated Battlegrounds. Please contact Captain Miserina.

Most importantly, sign up for the events and show up! Our progress has seriously stagnated due to lack of attendance. If attendance to events do not improve, new players will be recruited to take the empty spots.

Speak of recruiting, if you know anyone who would make a good addition to our guild, please inform Captain Changlou so that he can contact them. Level and gear isn't important, personality is. The first two can be fixed easily, the last isn't something we can really negotiate with.

And a final thank you to Captain Miserina for contributing to our Crowd Pay and removing the ads from the website!

Rumors have it based on comments Blizzard employees have made (and claims that about 2 months after launch) 5.1 will be released. Since Sunday November 25, 2012 was the 2 month point of Mists. It would be that 5.1 will be launched tomorrow Tuesday November 27, 2012. We will see but I want to see your views on this.
